Description
This statue is located in Vienna on the green area near to Pilgrambrücke opposite to Wienzeile 85. It was created in the first quarter of the 18th century and was restored in 2010.
It was moved to its current location from the courtyard of Hofmühlgasse 6. Probably the original location was connected to the channel that provided a series of mills with water. The channel was removed approximately in the 1840s. John of Nepomuk is one of the most pictured saints in Austria.
Diese Statue befindet sich in Wien auf einer Grünfläche nahe der Pilgrambrücke gegenüber von Wienzeile 85. Die Statue stammt aus dem ersten Viertel des 18. Jahrhunderts. Der Künstler ist unbekannt.
2010 wurde sie einer Renovierung unterzogen.
Ursprünglich befand sich die Statue im Hof des Hauses Hofmühlgasse 6. Wahrscheinlich stand ihr Originalstandort in Zusammenhang mit dem Kanal, der parallel zum Wienfluss eine Reihe von Mühlen versorgte. Dieser Kanal wurde etwa 1840 aufgelassen.
Johannes Nepomuk zählt zu den am häufigsten abgebildeten Heiligen in Österreich.
